Finland's Most
Beloved Café

In the heart of Helsinki, Fazer Café has been serving exceptional coffee, handcrafted pastries, and the warmth of Finnish hospitality since Karl Fazer first opened our doors.

Since the Day Karl Fazer Opened Our Doors

In 1891, a young Karl Fazer opened a small Russian and French confectionery shop on Kluuvikatu. Helsinki was a quieter city then — more formal, more measured — but the pull of a beautifully made cup of coffee and a slice of layered cake was just as irresistible.

"A place where time moves a little slower, and coffee always tastes exactly as it should."

More than 130 years later, we're still here. The café's art nouveau interior — the painted ceilings, original wooden panelling, the quiet clink of porcelain on marble — remains one of Helsinki's most treasured rooms. We've weathered two world wars, a pandemic, and every passing trend in coffee.

What hasn't changed is the commitment Karl built into every recipe: the finest ingredients, prepared with care, served with Finnish warmth. We still bake our pastries each morning. Our coffee blend is still roasted to our own specification. And the korvapuusti — the great Finnish cinnamon bun — is still the best in the city.

Some things don't need improving.

The Korvapuusti

Finnish for "slap on the ear" — a cinnamon and cardamom bun folded by hand each morning. Ours weighs nearly 200g and follows the same recipe it always has. Best warm, with filter coffee.

The Fazer Blue

Karl Fazer's original milk chocolate, in its distinctive blue foil since 1922. We place one beside your coffee as a small reminder of what started all of this — a confectioner who simply wanted to make people happy.

The Room Itself

The painted ceilings and warm wooden panelling of our art nouveau dining room have changed little since 1891. Come in on a winter afternoon when it's dark outside at three o'clock. You'll understand why people return.

Come for coffee. Stay for everything else.
